IGI Partners with Ford at SIGGRAPH 2015

IGI is partnering with Ford to provide a large scale high resolution advanced visualization system for their Emerging Technologies demo of the Ford immersive Vehicle Environment (FiVE) at SIGGRAPH 2015.

The IGI system consists of the Barco DP4K-60L Laser 4K projector, a new innovative screen specifically designed for the high brightness of the laser projector, along with a high quality optical mirror to handle the optical light bounce needed in order to keep the footprint as small as possible in the Emerging Technologies demo booth. This is the first public showing of this new projector and screen in the U.S.

The annual SIGGRAPH conference is a five-day interdisciplinary educational experience in the latest computer graphics and interactive techniques including a three-day commercial exhibition that attracts hundreds of exhibitors from around the world.

Ford will demo a highly realistic immersive virtual reality system that addresses the unique challenges of automotive design, engineering, and ergonomics. The Ford immersive Vehicle Environment (FiVE) is a collaborative approach to automotive design that allows various disciplines at Ford to communicate effectively in a common environment, in a manner that is intuitive and highly productive. FiVE enables program teams to see and understand complex engineering issues from any customer’s perspective, while considering aesthetic design, fit and finish, manufacturability, and maintenance requirements.
