Commerce, MI (June 4, 2008) – Immersion Graphics, Inc. has announced that it has completed a state-of-the-art automotive visualization center that sets several new industry benchmarks. Located at Ford's Product Development Center in Dearborn, MI and known as its Electronic Design Presentation Room (EDPR), the system's massive display wall, which measures sixty feet wide, is capable of displaying multiple, computer generated, full-scale automobile renderings and animations simultaneously. With the touch of a control panel button, the system automatically reconfigures itself for the visualization of larger vehicles.
Ford's EDPR facility exemplifies its strong commitment to virtual design and 3D visualization. Various forms of the technology have been deployed by Ford to accelerate its product development process and improve quality. The company's impressive quality gains, as documented in recent J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Studies, confirms that its investments in this area are delivering the desired results.
"We are proud to have contributed this key piece of technology to Ford's transformation plan," says Pat Hernandez, President of Immersion Graphics. "We are grateful for Ford's vision and their confidence in giving us the opportunity to engineer and install for them this industry-leading visualization solution. The flexibility of the EDPR's display system and its image quality are absolutely best-in-class."
