DesignView Turns 1, What Do Customers Say?

Posted by IGI. July 28, 2022 - Audio Visual Integration, LED, Mobile, DesignView

IGI DesignView launched about a year ago, and it was time for a review from the customer perspective.

In the past, large product manufacturing environments that conduct design and engineering reviews have had to print large scale images to conduct group review and sometimes side by side with a print board and the actual product. Many types of activities including ideation, sketch approvals, themes, accessories, colors, looking at competitor products all happened using paper as a part of the product development and approval processes.

In the automotive sector, design teams called these rolling boards as they were typically mounted on wheels so the design could be moved in proximity to a vehicle or clay model.

The downside is printing and mounting the designs is time consuming.

With the IGI DesignView, this time consuming process was streamlined to be as quick as a new design could be selected and displayed electronically on the display. Design iterations in seconds, not days.

Eliminating the large print boards have improved many workflows making them more efficient and effective, as well as reducing the time it takes to conduct review and related processes.

For environments that have switched over, they are finding the DesignView an integral part of the atmosphere now with no plans to return to the previous method.

More than just designers/engineers want DesignView

Turns out, the DesignView is valuable to other processes as well. As others  learned about the portable nature allowing the solution to be moved throughout a facility, Sales and Marketing teams started requesting them for marketing events, product reveals, and sales presentations.  Whether using video, VTC, PowerPoint or some kind of visualization software with the latest manufacturing design running an animation, the DesignView is becoming more than a review tool, and an experiential show tool as well.

Overall user experience with the IGI DesignView

Portability is the key. The IGI DesignView is a very high quality, custom visualization solution that users are able to move to where it will have the biggest impact on their work. In their studio, next to the model they are designing. Or, moved to any other facility location depending on the need.

After one year of use, it was important for us to understand what our customers wanted to see in the DesignView and future iterations. The solution is built to manage and exceed customer expectations so IGI is always working on aspects that will improve the overall capabilities of the product whether that means lighter, stronger, or better resolution.
